In June 2019, the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) published new Academic Acceleration Policy Guidelines for ALL Michigan schools.  This includes the guidance about the following: single subject acceleration, whole grade acceleration, and early entrance. 

Acceleration is an effective research-supported approach to meeting the needs of advanced learners.  You can find the policy guidelines, questions and answers, documents for parents, and other related links below:

Great news from the Michigan Department of Education – pass it on to your school district! Need more information on ESSA funding and gifted education? Look no further than this flier – ESSA Funding for Gifted 2019!

Schools that have data showing a need to improve their Gifted and Talented Programs or their accelerated learning programs may use title I part a or title IV part A funds to strengthen the program . They may use title II part A funds from the District to train staff to teach and facilitate these programs.
